The rain dripped from the heavens as the winds shifted course, whipping through the Starfire Sports complex in Tukwila on Friday night, but the teams persevered. Why? Because it was time for the 2020 Washington Youth Soccer Founders Cup to kick off. The first round of semifinals matches were played, and it was well worth the rain and wind and darkness. A few matches even went to extra time and penalties, meaning that everyone in attendance got to enjoy a little extra soccer amidst the maelstrom.

But not a balking spectator could be found, even in the moments of frustration and chill. Because they knew that the teams had worked incredibly hard to get to this point, and nobody could complain about giving them this moment. We’re incredibly proud of all of our teams, and we’re excited to continue watching some epic soccer at Starfire tomorrow as the semifinals roll on and the finals matchups are set.
